Obituary of Mabel Grace Hornick

HORNICK, Mabel Grace (Elliott) Passed away September 5, 2011 at Leamington Court. Formerly from Hudson Manor, Tilbury, born October 6, 1923 in Tilbury West Township near Comber to parents Walter and Beatrice (Keith) Elliott. Beloved wife of Douglas Hornick (2005). Devoted mother to Walter and Carol, Bob and Barb, Ruth Anne and Bob Waites, all from Wheatley; Ted and Marie from B.C., and Bill from Costa Rica. Loved mother-in-law to Betty. Loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 16. Dear sister to Sara Higgs of Kingston, Pearl Morris of Tilbury, and the late Morley (1984), William (1939), Carl (1970), Loris (1959), Charlie (1989), Bruce (1930), Alvin (1966), and Verne Elliott (1945), and Ilene Mayhew (2003), and Janet Pearson (2006). Survived by many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to Joy Davis with whom she shared a passion for reading and kept her aunt supplied with books. Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury on Wednesday, September 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m. Rev. Colin Swan officiating. Interment at McDowell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Literary Angels Program at the Tilbury Library, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or McDowell Cemetery.
