Obituary of Dorothy Sarah Jessie McClounie

McClounie, Dorothy Sarah Jessie: Passed away on December 23, 2011 at the age of 97 years. A resident of Sarnia, Dorothy was born in Malden Township, Essex County. She was the daughter of the late Charles Campbell and Margaret Louise (Brush) Atkinson. Beloved wife of the late Donald George James McClounie (1968). Dear mother of Susan Hill and her husband Ken of Surrey, B.C., Margaret Jack and her husband Gordon of Newton, Beth Ann Mitchell and her husband Jim of Sarnia and William McClounie and his wife Jo-Dee of Comber. Special grandmother to Scott (Nancy), Kerry (Lawrence), Mary Catherine (Morris), David (Jess), Anne (Morgan), Billie Jo, Allison (Nathan), Donald, Adam (Stacey), Brandon (Liz). Precious GG to Gideon, Jonas, Ethan, Brody, Avery, Layne, Grace, Addison and Stella. Dorothy was predeceased by a son Jimmy (1948) and two grandsons, Donald Jack (1971) and Jesse Mitchell (1991), sister Helen and husband Ralph Blight, brother Harold and wife Irene Atkinson. Dorothy graduated from London Normal School in 1935 and pursued her teaching career in Essex County. She retired from Comber Centennial School in 1978. Dorothy and her husband, Donald, farmed for many years in Essex County. She lived her life well, sharing her gifts of grace, love and joy for life with her family and all she knew. Family and friends will gather at St. Andrew’s United Church, Main Street, Comber on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 for a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. In her memory donations to The Organization for Literacy Sarnia-Lambton or St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia would be appreciated.
