Obituary of Betty Davidson

Davidson (Shaw), Betty: Betty passed away peacefully in her 96th year on February 17th in Collingwood with her son by her side. She was the loving mother of Al Davidson and his wife Aggie and Sue Davidson-Brouse and her husband Mike; dear Grandmother of Zachary (Christa), Quinn (Rob), Adam (Hilary), and Jess (Erin); and Great-Grandmother (GG) to Harlowe, Ada and Bastien. Also mourning her loss are many nieces and nephews.

Betty is predeceased by the love of her life Arnold "Dick" Davidson, daughter Sue, and her siblings Bonnie Jeffery, Doreen Gryp, Dorothy Duyck, June Donais, Marjorie Willan and brother Harlow Shaw.

“Aunt Bett” was a local icon with deep ties to the communities of Merlin, Quinn, and Tilbury. She was also known as “The Tart Lady”. Her legendary butter tarts were her favourite currency for telling people that she loved, cared for, and valued them. They say the more you practice the better you get. Well, with an average of 500 dozen a year, for nearly 50 years, it's no wonder her tarts were so sought after. She loved her community and loved being a part of it, whether it was playing cards, hosting pool parties at the farm, lending a hand at church functions, or on tour with the ‘Sisters of Quinn’. With Betty, there was always room for one more, her door was always open, and she was always ready to ‘put the kettle on’ for a hot cup of tea.
