Obituary of John Charles Mackay

John Mackay, passed away peacefully at home into the loving arms of the Lord, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer on October 12 th, 2022 at 72 years of age.


Loving & devoted husband of Thérèse (nee Desmarais) of 46 years. Proud Father to Shawn & Shelley Mackay and Jackie & Kyle Klassen. Adoring grandpa of Karissa & Faith; Makayla, Joel & Brynn.


Predeceased by parents Charles Mackay & Zelma Mackay (nee Langford) and parents in-law Edward & Harriet Desmarais (nee Janisse)


John leaves behind his loved siblings, Beth (d.Stu) Macdonald, Kanata, Wendy & Tom Watters, Constance Bay, Ingrid (d.Ian) Mackay, Saskatoon and Rodney & Nancy Mackay, Kanata. He will also be missed by in-laws Annette Robert, Essex, Br. Paul Desmarais S.J, Zambia and best friend, farming partner, traveling buddies Charles & Bernadette Desmarais. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.


To know John was to love John. His contagious smile and sparkling blue eyes were a welcome sight wherever he went.


He worked for 30 years at Ontario Hydro where he made great friends and memories and was always ready to talk about his days in this career which he was so passionate about. He was also blessed to
enjoy a lifelong love of farming and thanks to his work ethics, determination and best friend, his children and grandchildren will carry on in his footsteps.


Friends and Family will be received at Visitation Parish Church, 5407 Comber Side Road October 20 th from 5:00- 8:00pm and October 21st from 9:30-10:15 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am by
Rev Dwayne Adam at Visitation Parish. Inurnment to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery.
