Obituary of Angela Rice

Angela Rice, 83, of Tilbury Ontario and formally of Belle River Ontario, passed away on September 6, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

Angela was born on May 30, 1940 to Antonin and Mary Joch in Chatham, Ontario. She was the eldest sister of Stan Joch, Antoinnette Jubenville (2016), Marie Smit, Cathy Howe and partner Matt Jacob, and Eveleen Joch and husband Ken Taylor. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and Godchildren who loved Aunt Angela dearly.  She studied science and health at Brescia College at the University of Western Ontario and after graduation enjoyed a career of teaching and later became a librarian at the Emeryville Library.

Angela loved and married Wayne J Rice (2005) on July 18, 1964 and went onto have five sons; Michael Wayne and wife Lynne, Charles Antonin and wife Kerri, Stephen George (1968), James Jerome and wife Andrea, and Richard George. She was the proud Nana of seven grandchildren; Anjelica, Steven, MacKenzie, Katrynne, Joshua, Maya and Loren. Together, Angela and Wayne built a successful tax business in Belle River, Ontario that continued serving the community until her retirement in 2019.

Since February 2022, Angela was a proud resident of Hudson Manor Retirement Community in Tilbury where she could always be seen walking the halls with a smile on her face and ready to participate in all the group activities. A special thank you to all the staff and residents at Hudson Manor for helping to give her a fun and loving home.

Her faith in God led Angela to many volunteer roles including a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 465, the Catholic Women’s League, Eucharistic Ministry and member of the Finance Committee at St. Simon and St. Jude Church in Belle River. It was her trust of God and prayer where she found peace and happiness throughout her life and which carried her through her battles with cancer. In her final days, Angela found comfort in the loving home of her sister Eveleen and brother-in-law Ken that allowed her prayerful rest and time with family.

Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home Inc., 6 Canal Street West, Tilbury, on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, Tilbury on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 1 p.m. followed by Christian Burial at Maple Leaf Cemetery St. Anthony's Section, Chatham.
