Obituary of Allan Ross Kay

KAY, ALLAN ROSS

1937 – 2024

Allan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife of 64 years and the love of his family, on Saturday, July 13, at the age of 87. He was born in London, Ontario, and raised in Thamesville. Son of the late Lloyd and Gertrude (nee Finnigan) Kay. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Patricia (nee DeHoey) and fury friend Willow; his son, Ross (Janet) and daughter, Diane; and his grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Stephen, Rebekah (Tristan), Luke, Grant (late), Rachel (Jacob), Grace (Tyler), Lloyd, Hannah (Terry); great-grandchildren Adelaide, Everett, Kaycee, and Kameron. His grandchildren remember evening boat rides, fishing, playing card games, and adventures to the hardware store (that always included ice cream).  Dear brother-in-law to Eva Chevalier (late Claire), Joan VanHyfte (late Peter), (late Jack and Barb DeHoey), Jim DeHoey (late Joanne), Elizabeth DeHoey (late Ed), Rick and Diana DeHoey, (late Wendy and Dave Brooks), Cindy and Wayne Morris. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins will miss him.  Allan worked for Rockwell International for over a decade and became a successful broker for Remax in Burlington, Ontario. Allan retired on Manitoulin Island in the home that he built. He spent many winters in his home in Florida. He was a man of numerous talents and mastered many trades. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, boater, and carpenter and will be forever remembered for his ability to problem-solve whatever was before him. His sense of humor made his family smile, and his joy in volunteering to help others was guided by his faith in the God he loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tilbury Regular Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Nevelizer officiating on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm, 7 Crawford Avenue, Tilbury, Ontario.
